American Civil War Foot Officers Sword. No Scabbard. Leather grip with twisted wire wrap in good condition. Blade length approximately 30 inches. Overall length approximately 35 1/2 inches. No markings I can find anywhere on this sword. Very heavily worn condition. Additional Notes: The M1850 Foot Officer’s Sword was carried by the rank of Lieutenant through Captain. Once the rank of Major was attained, the M1850 Staff & Field Officer’s sword was used. This model, like the Staff & Field Officer’s sword was copied from the French M1845 infantry sword.
